Herdwicks
I’m off to Patterdale tomorrow in the 90 with a trailer to pick up some Herdwicks. Below is the ram a month or two back. Looks like he has the necessary equipment for the job! I just hope he is a bit more amenable than our previous ram.

It's OK having the right tackle for the job but you need to know how to use it. All the gear and no idea springs to mind. Good luck with new tup. Defender 90XS SW

I’ve had Hebs, I’m hoping the Herdwicks are a bit more sensible! The flock I’m buying from aren’t fell sheep, they live low all year. Fingers crossed they will come to the bucket and not just poke off across the valley as soon as they feel like it. I’ll find out tomorrow! 400 miles in the 90 is going to be emotional 🙂

All done. A 400 mile round trip with the trailer. It took 4 hours to get there, 4h 30 to get back as traffic was poor. The pick up didn’t miss a bleat bless her. 😁

The sheep all come to the shake of a bucket or rustle of a feed back, happy days. Here are the girls in the orchard

They are all still in! They are in some respects cheat Herdwicks, they have never been on the fell. The ram (Humphrey) is very docile, might need a drugs test!

Not on any scale Procta, just a few bits and pieces. We have done more in the past and had meals completely sourced from home, but finding the time just now is tricky. Kids are 13 and 15 so running them around to various sports clubs and so on seems to leave little time. When they are a bit older I’ll go back to the veg. The orchard is productive and we use it all for apple juice, which stores well and gets consumed throughout the year. 👍
