My thoughts are that it would’ve been cheaper and easier for Land Rover to produce a one piece shaft than the two piece design, so there must’ve been a reason to make it two piece (although admittedly, this is Land Rover in the 2000’s we are talking about).

My 08 had been already been changed in the first ownership however it hadn’t been engaged fully and had worn quickly, at 120k I fitted the Ashcroft kit and has been perfect since.

LRO mag a few months back had a one piece shaft with a lifetime warranty mentioned. However, I read some views on here that it would only cause wear elsewhere. I'm dithering which to go for (Ashcroft or one piece) - will probably go the tried and tested route!
