Start with filters. Including the often forgotten fuel filter
If still a problem, try running fuel prime procedure before starting. |

And/or a squirt of brake cleaner in the injector loom?
That would probably be my first port of call... |

Getting new filters tomorrow so I will put them on. I read a bit about the injector loom but don’t understand what is the problem?
Is it worth just putting a new injector loom on it? Thanks Ben |

Apologies - not very clear!
There is a tendency for oil to track back along the injector loom and collect around the pins of the red connector to the ECU... this is the bit that may need checking and cleaning. More info here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic4426.html |

Nice occasionally has a bad connection on one of the injectors, so have to whip the rover cover off and give it a wiggle.
I've slightly bent the pins so they (hopefully) make a better connection in the plug.... time will tell, has been OK for a while now. |

Same problem 8 years ago - connector pin loose on injector. Remove and bend a bit all connectors on the injectors "loom" below the valve cover, and replace also 2 O-ring on the "engine out" connector of this loom and still OK and no more oil in ECU.
The oil os not a big problem, just ugly, big problems are the tiny connectors on the injectors - the have to wistand approx. 25A of current together with high temperature inside of engine. If you remove the valve cover, check also the injector clearance. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo |

So update.
Fitted new fuel and air filter it made no difference. Everyone talking about injector loom so ordered a new one. Fitted tonite and still no different. Checked the old loom and no oil in the connector outside of the camshaft cover or in the red plug in the ecu. I know everyone says this but it was driving fine until the other night when I turned her around on the drive to do another job on the defender. Another question. Does anyone actually drive their defender? I just seem to be fixing things then finding something else wrong with her. |
