So after 18 months without any Land Rover ownership, I am kind of returning to the fold.
Just bought this late 1999 300tdi Auto Disco for £1200. Its going to be used as a trailer towing motor at our sailing club. Last few vehicles have been Mitsubishi Shoguns and I'm fed up mending them with all their complicated electronics and seizing brake calipers. ![]() Click image to enlarge Starts and drives as sweet as a nut. No smoke, no transmission noise, shifts through the auto box really smoothly, quiet transfer box, diff lock OK, etc. Bit rusty underneath but no serious holes or terminal rot. I have seen a lot worse. Some bubbling on a few of the body panels but it won't matter to us. It's had a 2" lift kit added which I might take off at some point, although it will help keep the body electrics a bit higher out of the water when launching boats. Only one key and a single 2 button fob, so 1st job before someone loses them will be to get another key cut and a second fob. www.remotekey.co.uk seems favourite as I don't have a Nanocom or Hawkeye to programme a new one myself. So indirectly, its good to be back ![]() Last edited by lohr500 on 2nd Sep 2020 8:12am. Edited 1 time in total |

Cheers discomog. It's so tidy I thought about buying it for myself as a cheap green laner, but then I realised I couldn't cope with the grief from swmbo.
