I think you've answered your own question, though by the sound of it the UJ has probably damaged the prop now.

Put it in diff lock, remove rear prop. Does it drive?

I'm changing the rear prop today so I'll see if it drives in diff lock without it. Luckily I've got another gearbox sat in the workshop.
I'm pretty sure it's the box, just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem. Thanks for the replies. |

Was there any play on the bearings? especially the intermediate bearings take a punishment. Or the collapse tube not set correctly? 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Cheers Mdm, luckily I have a spare, spent Sunday afternoon cleaning it up... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge It had been left standing for a month on grass while I found some time to fit new swivel housings, bearings etc. so it either had a helluva oil leak that I didn't spot or just sh** happens! I've decided to rebuild her onto a galv chassis since I've got this far. I'll be starting a build thread to cover it. |
