Hand painted after fitting, thinking that if they were anodised the coating could get damaged when tightening them down.
Why does it look as if they have painted the pedals with copper grease...... I am sure someone will have a better idea..... |

I can't see what's unusual, but I have got crap eyesight. From here they just look like regular hex head bolts, maybe some of the them are flanged. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I guess you are asking about the finish. If so they look to be either electroless nickel plated or cadmium plated, although hard to tell from the low res photo. You could even colour match to your vehicle colour if you wish with something like Xylan or any other fluoropolymer coating. Defender 90XS SW

As per post above, gold (or yellow) passivate finish. The bolts/setscrews on the vertical face and upper panel seem to be hex flange head, the ones on the toe-plate look to be hex socket button head.

Haha, I thought it looked like copperslip on the pedals too!
I should have been clearer in the OP - it is the finish I was querying. On the high Res photo it looks more of a copper finish as opposed to the standard zinc coating you can get. I'll have a look into the other finishes mentioned. They must be expensive if they can't afford to put bolts in all the floor plate holes. 😜

I doubt they're copper plated. It doesn't last long unless you lacquer it to protect from tarnishing.
Looks like zinc and yellow passivate to me. Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |

YZP (yellow zinc plated) bolts can be bought from decent bolt suppliers or you can send new or cleaned and polished old bolts to places like this http://daventrymf.co.uk/ who will apply a yellow passivated finish for you.
Restorers like Falcon Design Germany are using it a lot now on all different parts. 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html 2014 Discovery 4 SE Tech Instagram @the110camper |
