Puma 2.2 oil change
Just a reminder to me really. All gone well. Took about 30 mins. Made a bit of a mess that took another 30 to clear up.

When you follow the instruction on this forum to the letter, drain the engine oil and add 6 litres, run it for a bit then add the last one to top up according to the dip stick. DO PUT THE OIL CAP ON THE ENGINE WHILE YOU LEAVE IT TO RUN. Engine is nicely lubricated now. Inside and out. Rolling with laughter

Also a 10l oil drain things from Amazon is not up to the job...... !! Get a proper one.

On a serious note. How do you know the correct tigntness of the puma spin on oil filters? I did nine very hand tight and a nip with a ratchet pipe strap thing.

Cheers

I only hand tighten, having first lubricated the sealing ring with a smear of grease. If you use a wrench strap to tighten you'll probably have difficulty removing it on your next oil change. Also a chain type wrench can damage the canister.

I've never had an oil filter leak or come loose and I've changed hundreds. Defender 90XS SW

as above, only hand tighten them and lubricate the sealing ring first. i would slacken yours off and retighten by hand if it was mine. Cheers

To be fair, ratchet strap was the same as me, covered in oil.
Only moved a few mm past hand tight anyway.
I didn’t add a smear of grease though. That’s a good reminder for next time. Thumbs Up

Well you were asking how tight. Seems like you had already decided. Cheers

Totally happy. Was panicking there may be a super tool needed. Hand tight works for me. 👍
Only due to the wonderful forum that this is. Without the info on here I’d have never attempted any of the things I now class as pretty basic.
