New to me Series 2
Hi I’ve been searching for a series 2 for a while now viewed a couple but they weren’t for me, fast forward to last week while we were on holiday in Snowdonia I had a message from a gentleman on the series 2 forum with some photos (very well detailed 20 plus photos) and I spoke to him on the phone as well a few times and today we went to Rugby to view it and test drive it and we purchased it, we are extremely happy to be back in Land Rover ownership again after roughly 3 years of being without one, it is a 1963 SWB 21/4 petrol hardtop, the chassis is the original with the chassis number still visible it has had a small amount of welding done but to a very high standard, it’s fitted with 3.54 Diffs and 750,s and drives very nicely with them as well, it is an ex RAF Land Rover having been built 4th September 1963 and supplied to RAF High Ercall Shropshire on the 16th September 1963, you will notice it has a series 3 wing fitted that is because it has a series 3 heater fitted which is fine by me ( more efficient than the original smiths in my view) it’s also got the later wiper motor fitted which again I’m more than happy with anyway here are some pictures of it Thumbs Up Paul Tash n Barney

Oh wow, I rode the Chase every single weekend for about 5 years, usually parking at Milford or the 7 springs car park about 2-3 miles up the road. The place is massive and there’s hundreds of trails.

If your Series is wearing it’s original plate, UVT is a North Staffs/ Stoke plate I think?

Haha I know but it will do for now and surprisingly good on the motorway today driving back Thumbs Up I’m going to fit wing mounted mirrors as I do like them and at least it’s only been fitted to the windscreen bracket and not drilled through the door Thumbs Up cheers Paul

Nice vehicle, but 2 observations if I may. Firstly the front number plate isn't legal with the bumperettes, it is obscured, and secondly assuming that your front sidelights are in the headlights then I think they are too far in from the sides of the vehicle to be legal. Having said that I'm sure it's been used for years like that without problems.

It's a very nice, straight, and original looking vehicle.

Hi Blackwolf Thank you for you’re comments Thumbs Up I’ll be honest i had noticed it obscured the number plate slightly and I don’t particularly like the bumperettes on it so I am going to remove them in the next few days, no the sidelights are in the indicators which he had been assured was legal for that year Question the headlights are surprisingly good they are Wipac Quadoptics Thumbs Up cheers Paul

So the Series Two forum comes up trumps again. Thumbs Up

I don't know why more people don't use it, as you did, when looking to buy a SII/A.
