Injector Tolerances
Hi,

Still chasing a hesitation / misfire on my 2001 TD5.

Live data showed the injector balance tolerance to be varying. One or two of them was as far out as -19 on occasions. A couple never went far off the graph pattern and stayed around -4

Tried googling but cannot find info. Is -19 indicative of a dying injector ?

Thanks

Mine were all close, +/- 1-4. I don’t know how far out is out of tolerance though.

I think +/- 1-5 is good and anything up to 7 is acceptable. 19 is totally off. Charlie

Was the -19 at idle or under load?

I had 2 injectors way out of trim. It was the early warning sign of head gasket failure. Since replacing head gasket (and a new head) all the injectors are within a few points. Nothing definite but worth considering Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Thanks for the responses.

It was semi under load. The car only hesitates / misses just before the turbo spools up. Once you have it revving, it goes very well and you can actually drive it hard and drive straight through the problem. The reading was just as it was stuttering as I was holding it at the right point on the accelerator just before the turbo spools up properley.

Interestingly I cannot get it to miss a beat when its stood still. When stationery I can search for the point in the revs for it to miss and it doesnt happen but when going along i can find the point just before the turbo spools up and hold it there. In low ratio it will kangaroo. When driving along at 50mph, it hesitates and stutters but momentum dulls down the effect compared to low ratio slow speeds.
