Exhaust Life

Having got to 120k miles from new, I'm wondering how long the exhaust will last. Most of the renewables have been changed, as they failed, but what is the expected life of the exhaust?

2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Stornoway Grey

The exhaust on my 2007 TDCi is original at 250,000 miles, with the exception of the downpie/cat on which the flange broke off. I have the rewelded pipe as a spare, however.

The exhaust on my 2002 Disco2 is similarly all original at 230,000 miles.

I think, as with a lot of components it all depends how its used.

Different car I appreciate, but my wifes Picasso went through back boxes at a rate of about 1 every 2-3 years, but that car was mainly used for short journeys and never really got warm. But at the same time it cost nothing else to run in 8 years, so I'm not complaining. 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone
2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone
2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW

Trouble is with small cars they can often get bashed underneath, some are so low even dropping off a kerb stone could do it.
With the plethora of bizarre junctions we have I know of many places where a small car would be in serious trouble with clearance underneath.
Often the exhaust and mid / back box is most vulnerable.

I’m glad I don’t have to use any, I’d have to be careful I didn’t take it off the road or on a green lane.

Agree Steve, but in this case it was always the welds rotting out around the back box
