Ive posted a few photos already on the forum, if there’s anything in particular you want photos of or a short video let me know.
Having never drove a old defender i cant compare the two but ive owned a audi q7 and range rover autobiography before and i can definitely say the new defender feels much better to drive that both of them. Even on motorway pushing 3 digits feels solid and smooth. Really looking forward to trying some off roading at the end of the month and i am sure it will be every bit as capable as the old defender. |

Thanks MrEleven
if you can post some pics/vid it would be good. Also, be interested to hear your account of its off road abilities (and whether it put a smile on your face!) when you do that. Thanks for reply. |

What photos would you like? I’ve posted plenty of pictures of the inside and outside of mine in the forum and there are loads of links to non-journalist reviews on YouTube in the main 2020 Defender thread Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Here’s a nice review for you
He’s wrong about the load space not being flat when you fold the rear bench, in the 5 seater it can fold to flat, in the seven seater it doesn’t because of the sliding seat bases that allow access to the two seats on the 3rd row in the boot Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. That was a nice review, and I want to like this car - but €91k?
Why does Land Rover consider that a car of that price is a suitable replacement for one costing £30-40k? If they had just called it a new model name, I'm fairly confident a lot of people would be a lot happier with it. 2005 Td5 90 XS 1989 V8 110 CSW |

€91000 Remember that is Euros and with the huge tax that Eire slaps on all cars
UK price for that car is around £53000 Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. I agree completely. I am baffled why they abandoned a market segment between 25-45K and launched the new Defender in the 50-100K when they already have cars in that segment? Even thou the D5 has been a sales disaster, I am sure the new Defender is the nail in the coffin. I can't see the point of having both when they are so similar in their target audience. |

i suppose im expecting whether it is being used like the old defender and how it fairs.
Also some perception of cost we don't tend to mention such as: insurance service costs road tax For me these are important considerations as i went for a 90 H/T as road tax was 1/2 of the non commercial option so over the 6 years of ownership i saved approx. £1500 in tax which makes life more bearable. I like the look of it, believe it is a well made vehicle but tbh i doubt ill ever be able to afford one |

Service costs - dealer tried to sell me a service pack that covers 3 services............ sharp intake of breath later I said no thanks, IIRC they wanted £900 for (As the salesman put it) 3 “free” services. My last RRS had 5 services for £500 which i took because basically after the first 2 services the next 3 were free.
Insurance - I have offroad fully comp cover from NFU Mutual and got £121 refund changing from a 1.5ltr Mini Countryman PHEV to the Defender, full NCB, rural postcode (on a farm lane) not garaged and I’m 63 years old. Road Tax/VED - biggest issue is the premium you pay for vehicles over £40,000 immediately adds IIRC £325pa for the first 5 years, I haven’t checked what it drops to after that but it won’t be in the £10pa bracket for sure! Pentland sent me an email offering the same thing as the salesman offered, I’ll have a look and see if I still have it Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Here is a link from the email that they sent me - it’s even more expensive than I thought as it only covers 2 services.
https://www.john-clark.co.uk/land-rover/se...livery.net IIRC this car has moved away from the service at 12 months or 19000 miles regime of pervious modern Land Rovers and Jaguars.
