We had the rear seats replaced twice in our 110 because of a rattle, all under warranty The dealer did it without a fuss, might be occasional problem.
Hope this helps Jack |

Have a look under the vehicle beneath the rear floor plate. There are suprort brackets going up from the chassis.I had to sandwich a rubber gasket between the the floor and these support brackets, and the chip-monks have since left the vehicle. Puma 110 SW

Couple of areas to check on the DC. 1. Look at the area where the seats are supposed to touch the floor at the back. They have adjustable feet and they may not be making proper contact. 2. Even though the seats are fixed, they have the ability to be folded down if you undo the retaining brackets at the back. The swabs are released by a pull handle that unlatches a claw from a bar. This can squeak. One thing to be aware of before you start undoing brackets attached to the seat backs, they can be pain in the proverbial to get back in - I always spent many a happy hour trying to get them fitted again Good luck Bob - no rattle from the rear seats not but an annoying squeak from the door trim behind the drivers seat |

I had a number of squeaks and rattles that nearly did me head in on long drives across Europe.
One of the most annoying ones came from the rear seat (middle row). On the left side, the 1/4 seat would squeak when it rubbed against the little metal bar that pops up from the floor when you fix the seats in the upright position. I applied some lithium grease to the bar and contact points (later used silicon spray), and this did the trick. Because of the acoustics in the 110 I couldn't track the source down for weeks. I've also had the rear door squeak, where it was rubbing on the striker panel. Had to be re-hung properly by the dealer. |

Righty, the problem is the wheel mounted in the back. LR in their wisdom have used the 4 smallest adhesive pads they could land their hands on to keep the wheel off the back. The spigot is smaller than the hole through the wheel centre so even doing it up tight, after a few days the wheel moves half inch left or right and moves off the sponge pads. Tyre rubber creates a high pitched "chipmunk" noise which booms through the cabin.
I cut a 70x60cm piece of 6mm thick rubber and popped a hole in the middle, fed it over the spiggot and tightened her up. All four contact points are now well covered and its a quiet, creek free drive! Thank god, its driven me insane the last 2 weeks. |

Apart from an occasional clutch pedal squeak which has now gone the Defender is the only car I have owned that does not make a noise, not a vibration, gender, squeak nothing Go figure that for a LR with hard suspension - give it time

Give it time Zag!
I have a couple of rattles. One is from the rear, either the left side window is rattling or the rear left seat is rubbing against something when it's in the folded position. I've also a squeek in the front from the left hand side. I thought it was the passenger seat, but it seems to be the passenger door card rubbing against something. Nowt serious by the looks of things, but irritating. Chris. http://shropshirelandrovers.freeforums.org 2015 Defender 90 XS SW & Helen, 1964 IIa. Previously 2012 Defender 90 XS SW & 2008 90 XS SW. The door card can rub against the seat box, especially if carpeted. I just spray some silicon spray on the door card. Gives a good finish that is dirt resistant and stops the squeak. LANDYWATCH
