Can you post a side on picture?
My 300tdi ragtop always sat high at the back on what appeared to be the original rusty old stock springs. The front was very low and polish marks on the bumpstops showed that it was touching down quite regularly. I always suspected someone had fitted some soft springs from a rangerover or disco to try and improve comfort but don't know for sure. After a chassis rebuild 2yrs ago I replaced the fronts with the yellow britpart +2" standard strength springs and it then sat dead level but doesn't really look lifted. I just think the stock commercial rear springs supplied by Land rover ane very hard so they don't settle too much when loaded. Great for builders and farmers but not so good for us private owners that don't carry much and want some comfort on road and flex off-road. I have since fitted the matching +2" rears from Britpart and guess what..... exactly the same height as the standard springs I removed, except maybe a bit softer. |

"Old Skool" Thank you for your Reply and the information. I will get a photograph uploaded in the next day or two. The springs I fitted were a Quality OEM and marked with the correct colour coding for the year and vehicle type. Your point about the designed use of a stock vehicle was my first thought but I am still confused why it is sitting 50mm higher at the rear than the factory specification states!

Side on photograph as mentioned. So far I have found FOUR measurements for the rear height from various LR manuals and literature!!!

That doesn't look particularly excessive to me, for an empty van. Darren

That looks normal height for a 110.
What springs do you have installed? I use this site for spring information: http://www.red90.ca/rovers/springinfo.html Based on what spring you have, and the compressed spring length (between chassis bracket and the thingy that sits on the axle), can calculate what load you have on each spring, and from that and the free length and rate of any spring, can calculate the new ride height. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Welcome to the forum
Have to agree the looks pretty normal to me. I'm told on my 110CSW if you fit 90 rear springs on the front it will level it up. I suspect the HT has HD springs on the rear to take an anticipated heavy load. Great Dedender, nice to see a 110 HT getting some love! This is a picture of mine when I first picked it up, with Heavy Duty springs and the helper springs inside.
I've since changed the springs to the station wagon spec, white/green/green I think they were which has lowered it and improved the ride. I'll try and get a photo of it but I've not driven it too far with the new springs on so I'm expecting them to settle a touch. Good morning. Thank you all for your replies and information/picture.
Springs fitted are: Front NRC8045 yellow/yellow and Rear NRC6904 Red/Green. Measured again this moving unleaden and on level ground 2080mm at the rear. Also measured centre of wheel cap to lower edge on "eyebrow". Front 490mm Rear 550mm the same both sides (miracle). I am beggining to think that it may well be within "tolerance" as I am now up to SIX different measurements shown in various hard copy and online literature. |
