A few new pretenders at Eastnor
Was at Eastnor castle on Monday, so took a few pics in the LR experience carpark.... SWMBO thought I was sad....

Still, got a pic of a decent defender (mine) in front of the wannabes!

I thought it was a 6x6, but had a crawl underneath, it's 6x4 with a floating rear axle (I took some pics of it, I'll upload them).

It must have been early Td5 as it had a salisbury rear (well, "middle" axle) and a 90 "dummy" at the back, with the steel plate over where the diff should live.

Looked good though.

It did strike me that that that parking area has now become utterly bland and uninteresting. It looks more like an office car park. Big Cry

Probably because LRE’s are not there to show off no longer manufactured vehicles, only the current range. We all know Classic Defender is brilliant at what it does, but people new to the brand aren’t interested in what the old models can do I’m sorry to say, they want to know what their shiny new car’s whistles and bells functions all do, preferably without damaging or getting their own car dirty.

LRE’s are part of the marketing, they are there to show off what current cars can do, sad to say. Heritage doesn’t matter to the marketing men unless it’s to create an aura around a new vehicle. Do any other LRE’s have corporate Classic Defenders still or is it only Eastnor? Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I get the corporate/business reasons for that, doesn't mean I agree with it or like it!

I also feel that by driving the new models on LRE, the driver is missing out on the more authentic and fun experience, but I understand that they probably dont care.

Well no different to not being able to chose a 101 or a 11B Forward Control.

Most of the vehicle use at the centres are the half day introduction courses for new owners that get the free voucher when getting a new vehicle.

The centres are also there to promote the brand and the current line up. Though it would not surprise me in this day and age to have someone walk into a dealership wanting to buy a Lightweight......

Now there's a business idea - an Heritage Land-Rover Experience centre where you can drive classic Land-Rovers from bygone years, like the IIB, 101, Bog-Rover, Cuthbertson, etc. Thumbs Up

Bang on Blackwolf

I will of cause give the Snatch Land Rover Experience a miss Shocked

On another note, we were in Cornwall recently and so I popped into the dealership Carrs as they had all colours apart from white.

That Tasmin Blue, which looks great in the photos does not (in my eyes) look that good in the flesh. I know colours are subjective but I was disappointed. The colour is more grey /blue and not blue..

Who does give out the vouchers for prospective buyers, rather than the voucher given to each buyer after a purchase?
