It sounds like the park switch is knackered Mike

Thanks guys. The thing is, I thought the same thing, so I ordered a new park switch from Rover's North in the US. Only after I installed the new park switch did I create this post. Same exact behavior for both switches. So I am really baffled.

I suppose the park switch could be faulty, recently when I fitted one the clip holding the switch in came loose making it useless so it was replaced, someone on here said that park switches were made of cheese they are so fragile. Jeff

Thanks again. I wanted to give an update on this. I ordered a second switch and got the same result. I also manually tested all 3 switches - the original and the 2 I ordered, and they work fine when they are not installed on the wiper motor. To mention again, when they are not installed on the wiper motor the wipers work fine, and pressing the little plastic shaft in on the back stops the wipers every time. It's when I clip them back into the wiper motor that nothing happens.

I know it might sound stupid but try changing the brown and red (or whatever the non negative colours are) wires around, its worth a try. Jeff

How good are the stalks on these? that could be an issue, i am suspecting mine is a bit hit and miss, after i changed the switch, sometimes the wipes just stop mid way when i switch them on, i have to give them a gentle pull and they work. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

As Procta says the stalks are pretty fragile also.
I don't suppose you have stripped the wiper motor? It is straight forward just to see if everything is OK It seems that if everything else is OK then it is staying permanently parked. Jeff Ex 1968 Series 2A Ex 90 TD5 Ex D3 Ex D4 |
