I have noticed that both of the upper rear shock mounts on my 110 seem to have developed some axial movement. The bushes look in good condition and there doesnt seem to be any movement between the shock and the bush. All of the movement of the shock seems to be axially along the shank of the shock mount. The nut and washer are correctly in place on the mount but there must be close to 10mm of play on one side. It is almost like the shock is too narrow or the plain shank of the mount is too long. This seems to have been a recent development though as it hasnt been an issue previously and I have not touched the mounts or shocks since they were fitted in 2016.
Any ideas what the cause could be? Cheers, Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

Could the bolt be too long, thereby not allowing the nut and washer to seat themselves properly against the damper/Bush? Or perhaps you need a spacer because your brand of damper has a fixing point that is too narrow for the vehicle’s mounting bracket? Monsieur Le Grenadier

Thanks for the suggestion. However, the damper and mount are both genuine items and there was no play at all when they were first fitted and seem to have been fine for 4ish years and about 30k
All i can think of is that the shoulder on the mount has some how worn away or the metal tube in the centre of the bush has worn. I will take them off and have a look in the near future. Cheers, Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

the top mounts as an eye system have never been great, i use Gwyn's pin/pin setup.
ran the +5" on my challenge truck for 5+ years with no problems, now running std height shocks on his std height pin/pin setup with OME pin/pin shocks on my more road going defenders. far better solution and less stress on the rubbers. https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/rear-st...nt-gl1171/ Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

^^^ Those look good, hadn't seen those!
Do they use existing holes or does the chassis need drilling? |

It uses the existing holes, so no problems there. However on the Td5, at least with the twin hole setup (https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/rear-ch...ue-gl1062/), you have to reposition the fuel filter further forward, as it interferes with the brackets. Gwyn can supply the necessary hardware to do this - my only mild concern with it was that it puts a bit of additional stress on the fuel pipes, as they are not in their natural position. 2005 Td5 90 XS

OMFG, there are so many awesome little upgrades out there. Why do I always find out too late. Fitted new shocks a year ago. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Thanks all, looks like Gwtn Lewis will be getting a few orders!
I presume front shocks fit these fine for standard height application? Cheers, Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

You should try doing this with the added fun of a full external Safety Devices roll cage..... |
