And what about the Minerva, Def9?
Great chunks of it are from Solihull, other chunks made in Belgium where it was assembled. Now many are being re-imported into the UK. I think Grenadier has got it about right, even though I would prefer 100% British. |

INEOS Grenadier Is it British?
Idea (probably) Yes. Design No* Product Development No* Components No* Ultimate Build Location Maybe (but actually unimportant) *International What matters is...is the concept right (enough). It has to be right for the Market or be so good that a Market is created. If the concept is wrong no number of ideas will correct this. The original Land Rover (from which every LR product originated) was right enough LR have progressively taken the vehicles up-market and to a large degree they are more capable. The new Defender has (IMO) has stepped too far away from a Utility Platform allowing any number of bespoke work-specific solutions to be readily produced. The INEOS Grenadier looks to have re imagined this concept with apparently the design ethos to use 'more or less' the best available irrespective of nationality... for some time now most 'complex' products have been sourced from an 'international parts bin', our Defenders are no different. I hope the Grenadier is built really (really) well and if so it could build a name for itself and in the process attract the market who just can't look at the new Defender and imagine buying one. If INEOS can also get in under the eye watering new Defender Price... they are half way there... SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

Yes of course Slidey, I hadn’t forgot about them but from comments I have read people don’t tend to diss Minervas to the same extent like they do with an Aussie import, maybe due to the fact that they are generally seen as good value for money and generally cheaper than an Ex Aussie vehicle. |

Like this guy’s pragmatism. Hits some nails on the head there.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

I understood this is more to do with the great difficulty involved in registering them in the UK rather than any technical issue, as they are identical to UK built vehicles, just generally less rusty. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

As long as you have the date of assembly in Australia which is available if you know who to contact within Land Rover then registration isn’t difficult. For ex CKD vehicles from say South Africa where records don’t seem to exist then yes I would say it’s almost impossible to get registered in the U.K. |
