No horn
I’ve had a search and can’t find a relevant topic, for 300tdi anyway.

My horn has died and it’s MOT time.

I can hear the relay clicking but the horn doesn’t sound. That to me says that the horn unit it’s self has died.

Is my basic conclusion most likely correct?

If so, is there a specific horn part number for 300tdi Defenders, or is any defender horn suitable?

No relay with original horn(s), so likely an aftermarket horn. The clicking that suggests the column switch is OK, you need to check the input to the relay (fuse?) and output.

Could still be a failed horn but likely you're not using the original system.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

It has been moved due to full-size intercooler, there’s a relay in the engine bay that doesn’t seem to relate to anything, so it may be for the horn.

I’ll have to have a proper look at where all the wires go.
