I cannot see it mentioned in this thread.

The ones that are used for the side steps are hex shaped to go into the hex shaped hole in the chassis, this so they do not turn in the holes when you need to remove the steps. Round replacements will not fit unless you drill them out. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

My last post wasn't aimed at you and I didn't spot any snot, I just became concerned that we were about to head off on a tangent onto a serious discussion about drilling hexagonal holes!

Hex punches are available, but in reality a round hole and a small file is the answer. The hex-bodied inserts have the huge advantage when fitted in a hex hole that they don't spin.
