Someone was in a rush when fitting your side panel.
You’re going to have to slacken off the lower and roof bolts, then adjust the gaps. |

I would measure up the glass edge, next to the door and compare with the one on the right side.
Alternatively make a cardboard pattern from the right glass and flip the pattern on the left glass and see how well it lines up. That would determine if there is an issue with the Defender or the glass itself. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

I don’t have panoramic glass like you have but my Rh rear panel is similar to your Lh rear panel, and has the canted panel to panel line. I’m assuming quality control must have had the day off when this panel was fitted by the resident apes, sorry, bodywork team.
I never tried to rectify it as I think that it may throw the hinges out of line as there is next to no clearance for the hinge bolts in their holes. Of course I may be wrong about this, but when I changed my hinges the bolts were a very snug fit. |

I am by no means an expert, I don't have these sides and I don't suffer from this issue, but... I would do as others have suggested and measure everything/make cardboard templates to see what is 'off'.
Presumably if you measure from the capping to cross member on both sides you will be able to tell if the capping is high on one side? Looking at your image it looks like the tub is further in than the edge of the door (further forward), but it is hard to tell. How does it line up and is the door gap (left to right) consistent on both sides between the door, the tub and the sides? |
