Immobiliser issue following flat battery - 2013 90 TDCi
I apologise for yet another immobiliser thread, but I can't find the answer in other threads.

My sister is unable to get her defender to start following a flat battery - she said she may have left the courtesy light on and the defender has been parked up in her garage a few days.

She re-charged the battery in situ.

The immobiliser led flashes normally when ignition is off, but remains on continuously when ignition on. The engine turns over and fires once, if the key is turned to start straight away. If there is a pause after turning on before going to start, the engine doesn't turn over.

She has a base model without central locking. Previously, the indicators flashed when operating the lock/unlock button on the alarm remote, now they don't.

She obtained the EKA code from Land Rover and has tried the procedure for re-setting, but it hasn't worked.

The batteries in the fob have been replaced. She has tried pressing the buttons repeatedly. Previously, both fobs were used regularly. Now, neither has any effect.

The fuses beneath the steering column have been checked and found to be ok. I have a BAS tool which showed P065B-16 28 low voltage which was cleared. All of the other dash instrumentation seems to be normal.

Any help would be appreciated! Current Steeds:

Disconnecting the battery for 10 mins should reset the alarm module. You may have to resynchronise the key fobs afterwards, but this is straightforward and has been covered in other threads.

Thanks Balvaig.

My sister tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting. No change.

It’s immobilsed. The key fob will want recoding if it now won’t recognise it. A nanocom (with the latest update if it’s got an ALM rather then the 10AS) should be able to do this or a good independent should sort it.

Is this something the BAS tool could do, if it was unlocked for this ecu? The tool is set up for my two defenders, but not my sister's. Current Steeds:

Try the manual resynch first.
With vehicle unlocked, take battery out of a fob and press both buttons on fob for 10 seconds.
Replace battery, preferably with new one.
Press lock 4 times, then unlock once.
This should resynch the fob to the car.

Update.

Checked all fuses again, disconnected battery for 30mins plus, took battery out of fob to drain and re synch. Tried EKA procedure again a couple of times (alarm randomly chirped (mislock noise like setting alarm with door open) a couple of times following this). No change. Alarm sounded upon battery disconnect.

Pete Bell kindly provided some advice and assistance, unlocking the service functions of my BAS2 tool for use on my sister's. My version of the tool seems to be limited to engine ECU functions, I tried "Learn AS10" and "Reset Lift Pump", with no effect.

Eventually, I found I could re-start the engine by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery with the ignition switch in the "on" position. I found the defender would fire up if I immediately walked around from the passenger side, entered from the driver's door and turned the key. It runs with the immobiliser LED on steady, but wont start again if switched off and left for more than a few seconds before attempting a restart.

At least my sister can drive it do a garage now.

PS, please say if my third paragraph shouldn't be there, in the interest of security. Current Steeds:

Lwb 97 was spot on.

Key fobs reprogrammed at local independent. All working again.

Something to do with the rolling codes being lost due to the completely dead battery for a longer than normal period. Failure of EKA code procedure a mystery. I guess it wasn't carried out properly. Current Steeds:
