Sounds like sticky selectors pop the top of and give it some grease also worth a oil change if not been done for a while 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid)

It could also be the clutch dragging.

Checking the gearstick lower assembly would be a good option I think, perhaps it is damaged as that will cause difficulty in selecting gears.

Have a look at the gearbox selector bias springs, it sounds like they need adjustment.

I had the same symptoms for a few days last time my clutch gave in. New oil, clutch and slickshift solved the issue. Shifted like a dream until now that its in the shop for a new clutch. Many moons after though

It sounds like it may be the clutch, and I've been quoted £1000 to replace it. Is that a reasonable figure?

It sounds reasonable, in my location its around $ 2500 usd for a definite solution with labor (shipping and taxes are brutal). Go all the way for a lof clutch or a clutchfix and never look back. Will cost more, but worth every penny and cheaper in the long run (no more replacements due to spring failures with good meat in friction plates). Im just in the process for upgrading to lof (my flywheel arrives today), went full kit with power sping and master cylinder upgrade. My last kit did 150 k km (AP), being very gentle on the clutch always.

That quote was from in independent LR specialist I've used before in Bedfordshire.
I've had cheaper online quotes from 'normal' car garages. Would you trust a non LR specialist to do it? I'm in two minds about it. |
