United Kingdom 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Loire Blue
Rear Shock Absorbers.
Evening Everyone,

I am looking for some clarity on the below - I appreciate people may have views on alternatives/better options; but I am just looking for the answer to below.

Can anyone help with what the difference would be (if anything) - I appreciate it is a VIN range difference. I have a 2103 2.2 110 - but am struggling to understand the real world difference.

Part numbers are the same (bar “TD5”) - but what actual (if any) difference is there/could there be?

Cheers

Mark.

From some time early in the Td5 run they changed the rubbers/washers arrangement at the lower end of the rear shocks. I presume the pin length is different to account for this, although usually aftermarket shocks require reverting to the earlier setup on later vehicles.

Thanks for the speedy reply - so I could likely “bodge/make” the cheaper option work then..

I don't know if the pin length is different.I don't see why, it still fits the same, just the number of washers needed is different.

I’ve assumed that it is the case because when I’ve on one occasion tried to fit the wrong type the pin was too short to reach through the later thicker bushes.

2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black

I’ve taken the plunge and ordered the cheaper pair - I’ll see what happens!!! MOT at 11.5 years old (COVID messed timings up a bit!!!) - has mentioned a few rubber bits are not A1 (rear shock bushes included)…

Take the bush cups off the axles if you have them (usually they’re spot welds) and it won’t matter. They wreck the bushes in my opinion anyway.
