Lockdown project number 187
Finically finished the P38 interior lights on the rear of the 90
Centre, and both sides, real easy mod, taping loom in the roof, splice to go 3 ways, Feed new loom to each side, and it’s easily hidden just by the safari window trim, make a template, dremel the cutout in the trim panel. Easy fit.
Next was trimming the mudsuff plinth with a dremel, make sure the panel fitted, needs to be trimmed for length a few MM each end, the width is fine.
Quick spray of black paint, add new LED’s to replace the dull filament bulbs and robert’s your fathers brother.
Those wanting to do this mod, there are two types of light panels, one with map lights, one without. Both sides have map lights, the main centre one doesn’t.
You can find the light on ebay, real cheap, funny, they are stamped with Austin on the backs.
Total cost to do all three, with LED’s, paint and wire etc, £60
Oh, why did I do this, I have gullwings, so when they are open, in the dark, you can just reach up, press the button, light directed down to where it’s needed in the back. All three can be individually turned on and off, and because they are connected to the factory interior lights, go on and off with central, locking, and when the door closes...
All my interior lights are all from a P38 with LED’s, front, rear, and sides.
