Out of curiosity, when I bought mine in 2011, I paid €491,00 which today means £365,00. That is incl. VAT, but without shipping costs. The boss or adapter and LR logo are included in that price. What is the price of those Startech steering wheels these days?

Not surprised. I was one of the first to buy that steering wheel, and I already paid 50€ more than when it all started 6 months before me. Startech then quickly saw they were on to something and further upped the prices.

Startech is a lovely wheel, IMO looks perfect and feels lovely. Had mine, bought second-hand, over a year now and still love it. One of the best mods! James

Agree with all,
How just a wheel can change the whole feel and drive of your truck who knows buts its lovely and think. Much smaller and just nicer in every way without looking after market. Pricey but worth imho every penny, Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Hi, I'm also new to Defenders and would like to replace the steering wheel, not just aesthetics but the limited room the original gives your right arm. Depending on price I am also interested in the startech group buy. Cheers

We may have to check with Tomek to see if he is still interested in running a group buy. Not many nibbles yet, 2 and counting

As this is my third post I think I can now PM Tomek so let's see if we can get the numbers. Btw lots done to our TD5 (it's actually my other halfs toy!!!) So I'll post pic's if anyone is interested!!! Full soundproofing, new seat's, leather door cards etc. That's why I want the ST wheel to finish it off.... Yeah right, cos you never really finish a Defender!!!

Much praise on D2N for the Startech Wheel (rightly so IMO), so to chip in here for those considering this...
On a standard Puma Steering Column you get these dimensional clearances... Click image to enlarge + as a recommendation, if you can go the extra mile, a Quick Release Steering Wheel Mechanism is a really good additional modification, for me its in my top 3 security measures for a Defender, I now never leave the Steering Wheel attached when leaving the vehicle, as it's as quick as removing the ignition key. The Snap Off version is shown here, with a Custom Boss, resulting (approximately) with the repositioning of the Steering Wheel 3mm nearer the driver. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Like most things you have to try before really knowing, the Startech is just the best I've tried. SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |
