Just my idle thought, but I would think a 2 part epoxy adhesive like Araldyte would be sufficient but I’d want a good fit between the parts so you aren’t doing too much gap filling with the glue. Also I’d imagine corrosion would set in and weaken the joint quickly so you’ll need to get a coating on it. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

We use Wurth Bond and Seal at work, comes in a cartridge like silicone sealant.
Once set it is very very strong and can’t be parted, also over-paintable if needed. |

Instead of just bonding the 2 parts together, cut a shaped hole in the plate and bend 2 or 3 tabs that wrap up the side of the tube. The tabs can be screwed or riveted to the tube to have a mechanical joint, then apply a sealant, either epoxy or silicone.
That depends if the hole is big enough to make the folded tabs. Alternatively, some angle pieces riveted to both the plate and the tube would do a similar job. |
