Wheel Banding
Has anyone had standard steel wheels banded? I’m considering having a set banded preferably by a firm North of Birmingham.

Interested in folks experience good or bad.

Purely from a legal/insurance standpoint I would go for the ANR Classic Wheels by Nakatanenga as they're fully TÜV approved Thumbs Up

I thought about it, as well as briefly owning a set of banded rostyles...

But in the end i went with TUV approved ANR’s from Mudstuff, seen here.

Thanks guys, they are a bit wide for what I’m looking for. I want to fit tall and skinny 750s which 235/85/16 would be the closest.

I had my Vw caddy wheels done by a friends business who managed to get sets tested and had proper certification applied (can’t remember who does that but I presume someone like British standards) but he ended up folding the business because after the Vw world went mad for them for a couple of years the work just dried up. Ray

Not sure I understand. If you want 7.50s then just buy 7.50s? They’ll fit on standard 5.5” steel wheels fine.

Banded Wheels - Essex is the only company I know of. I have no expereince of them but noticed them on FB and saw they'd done seevral Land Rover wheels.

However, the legality/insurance of banded wheels does concern me. James

It's a wheel that's been cut in half and had a steel band welded in between the two halves to make it wider. If done well, it is ok, but at one time the kiddies were doing it and there were some very very dodgy wheels around. Insurance companies generally put the phone down on them for this reason.

Cut 'em in half down the middle, and weld in a steel 'band' to widen the spacing between the beads. Tricky to do properly if you like round wheels.......... ---
