Help Identifying a Land Rover

Good Evening from Sunny Alberta,
I was wondering if any of you fine folk could assist me in identifying what model of Land Rover this is?
Its for sale here in Canada, and from what I can tell, hasn't moved very much in quite a while

The seller has stated its a 1952, but to me it looks more like a Series 2 (which I think as from 58 onwards??)

I've asked for more info, and can see me making a trip to take a look sometime next week

Yes, definitely a Series II but difficult to say much more without more details.

The hole in the wing suggests a Series III style heater but it could just be a replacement wing as much as something more exotic. Darren

I can’t see close enough the bulkhead to determine S2 or S2a. Have you any shots that could be zoomed in? 1951 80" S1 2.0

I think it is a (fairly) early IIA, and I also think that the owner has got the wrong decade, I reckon it's a '62. It has also "evolved" over the years to gain some newer features, such as the SIII heater orifice.

An early IIA is very hard to tell from a late II. IIRC the IIA appeared late in '61, possibly for the '62 model year, and the owner's 1952 comment (which is clearly wrong) makes me think IIA.

I also think that a II would have the early square style vanity panel between nos 1 and 2 cross-members, this appears to have the later rounded type, which again makes me think IIA, but it is a part which could easily have been "updated".

Those door hinges lasted quite well into IIA production, I believe, and initially gained provision for door mirrors to be fitted to the top hinge. I think that the smooth type only arrived with the SIII or thereabouts.

I used to have a 1961 Series II, which had the square vanity panel, also the front wings left the factor with sidelights only, so no pressing for the indicators. I can't quite make out if the front wings on this one have the dished pressing for both lights, or just for the sidelights, which would indicate no indicators from new. I don't think that any IIA vehicles left the factory without indicators, but I may be wrong. Curiously the rear of my '61 had the galv cappings with provision for two set os lights (so indicators as well) but left the factory with the rear tub un-drilled for the indicators (you could see that the indicators holes had been drilled in the tub after the cappings were fitted).

There are plenty of others here who know far more than I do about the II and IIA, so further information may well come forth.

For most export markets, Series II's had indicators fitted as standard. It was really only the UK where they were an extra. Darren

The problem with old Land Rovers is that over the years many parts could have been changed for newer or sometimes older parts, the classic “bitsa” vehicle. Therefore it’s very hard to determine the true age of a particular vehicle from a few photographs. Suffice to say it’s not a 1952 Series One.
