One of my favourite railways to visit has to be the Tanfield Railway near the Beamish Museum.
Quite a different atmosphere to most of the railways- its purely focused on industrials.
Really friendly place too.

Wallace and Stephens roller is the same that I helped to restore the one in the picture is in original colours . was called advanced because there is no flywheel meaning it could stop and reverse faster meaning g a better surface to the road . may not sound much today but this was in the late twenty's
