Randomly, I found myself watching this again. Talk about PPE (Blue overalls are apparently all that’s required)! Best thing was the cameraman/soundman who had to climb it first carting up a sodding great camera/gear!! Never fails to get me sweating. |

Me too! Blue Peter was the must watch Monday and Thursday TV show. I don't think god is an understatement to any child of a certain age. Peter Purves was like your Dad. Noakes was your mad Uncle And if they were home from work, Lesley Judd was the reason your Dad would watch Blue Peter with you |

All that rope work and not even a pair of gloves. And the guy with a trowel in one hand and a fag in the other! Balls of steel, the lot of 'em. Darren

What strikes me about Noakes is that you can barely understand him when he is chatting to the other bloke but when he's doing the voice over, he sounds like the Queen Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

i met Fred many years ago at a steam rally he spent ages talking to us and made a fuss of the kids . we had a pint in the beer tent later on after the rally had finished he like a gunnies or two . a year later we went to look at his place with a traction engine club I was a member of . I always think Fred and guy martin would have made good telly together
