All Flash memory like SD Cards have a finite number of write cycles. The larger the card the longer it should last as a decent card will have wear leveling technology.
A rule of thumb would be that the newer and bigger the card, the longer it should last. |

I've got one. Been trying to take some pics, but window reflections mean you can't see anything - I'll try again in the morning.
I've had an SD card issue with the OEM card (formatting problem) but I bought a 32Gb High Speed class 10 card which has been brilliant now for over a year. Plenty of others have had problems too (see Disco3). My Blackvue is mounted at the top of the screen, slightly to the left of the mirror (to keep it on the section of screen that gets 'wiped'). Below is footage from Strada Florida a couple of weeks ago, follow GarethR. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKsP9FFqheE&feature=youtu.be My Disco 'best bits' Defender 110 XS CSW 2013 |

I had another issue with an SD card in my D3 - tried to insert it (its held in the normal way, a spring-loaded fit), and it slipped past my finger-nail, shot out and down between the dash and the windscreen Not great for a £30 card!
A wireless model (DR500) would solve that My Disco 'best bits' Defender 110 XS CSW 2013 |

Bumping this up.
I see now that the 550 comes with 2 cameras and now interests me. Looking to install a front and rear camera for which the rear will be used as a reverse camera too. Anyone done it? Anyone hard wired one so no cables? Are they recommended and hopefully do not run the battery flat. |

FCX were approached a while back to become distributors for Blackvue products.
It's a product that really interested me but has been on the 'back burner' whilst we established our new HQ so I haven't promoted them. Anyway, the retail price on the DR550GW-2CH (2 channel DVR - 2 cameras) is £359.98 inc VAT and delivery, we can supply for £325.00 delivered The DR500GW 1080P HD camera (single camera) is £268.99 inc VAT and delivery, we can supply for £245.00 delivered All are delivered direct from Blackvue UK (UK stock - next day delivery) and are guaranteed / warrantied by them for 12 months |

Hi Lee,
I took a look at the Disco3 site, as suggested above, and the guy sponsoring there has retail prices way higher so, yes, looks like a good deal |

Decent review of the 2 channel one here:
http://the-gadgeteer.com/2013/08/29/pittas...am-review/ Seems a shame the rear-facing remote camera image quality is not as good as front camera; and hard to work out the logic (other than price) as you are just as easily rear ended as having someone cut across your front. Further discussion on it here - quite geeky but I'm reading it as being a miss rather than a hit due to a number of factors, top of which is bit rate speed: http://forum.dashcamtalk.com/viewtopic.php...p;start=70 |
