Are you saying that there are no grease nipples (point to inject grease in) on the prop shafts?
Normally there are three grease points per prop shaft. One in each universal joint, between yoke, and one on the slider. What have you got on yours? Andy. |

There was a UK service bulletin to replace propshafts where the nipples were not fitted.
There's no need to replace the propshaft simply because it has no grease nipples. It is probably worth seeing if you can fit one on the splined sliding joint (the hole should be there) since wear means a new shaft. The UJs may or may not be drilled for nipples (fit them if drilled) but at least UJs are easy to replace. There's no need to replace anything if it isn't worn, so even without any nipples you can use it till it wears. |

I have only grease point on each UJ. Any grease pount on the slider |

Check in that case whether the shaft is drilled for the missing nipple (the hole may be missing, or plugged). If you have the hole, fit a nipple. If you don't, replace the shaft when the splines become worn.

My 2015MY 110 only has grease nipples on the UJ yokes. Sounds like a nice little Sunday lockdown project in the sun! |

Action: If any propshafts are identified where the grease nipples are missing, then the propshaft should be replaced. Any cases where the grease nipples are in place but loose should be torqued to 8Nm + 45degrees. |

I have check and the shaft is not drilled. So i suppose i will wait a for more km and change it at this time. |

The Service Bulletin was dated March 2009 and they still continued making new vehicles with the same problem for 6 years. |

Mine had exactly this. A grease nipple on a UJ on each prop missing. It was one if these the rearmost that failed.

Since i bought my 2012 90, i wanted to take out the rear prop shaft to align the yokes, but was always too scared that i could mess up the balancing... right now i do not feel any vibrations. My earlier knowledge on older defenders was that only the front prop shaft have a shift in angels between the yokes, due to tge front pinion not being horizontal.
While doing some job on a family defender, i noticed that his rear prop shaft also have a phase shift between the yokes. Got on Paddocks site, and in their part picture, the same phase shift is present between the 2 yokes. Any one knows why this was done, given that rear diff pinion and transfer case output seem to be parallel enough to me!! Yes, it's because the engine and gearbox in the TDCi is nose-up, and as a result the transfer box output flange and the rear diff flange aren't coplanar. The skewed yokes compensate for the lack of parallelism. If you align the yokes you will introduce a vibration.
