Pick-up version a”distraction”
Today’s Autocar has an item about discontinuing the Ford sourced SDv8 diesel in RRS and FFRR but in the side bar next to it is a bit about a pick-up Defender that us possible on the new platform but will be “a distraction from the New Efender’s intended market” I suppose that means that residents of Kensington and Chelsea might not want to be associated with a vehicle that has a pick-up version........

Am I the only one who distinctly remembers one of the top execs only a couple of years ago saying there absolutely would be a pickup version and it was to be aimed at farmers etc?

I guess other voices got their way in the end. I think it's a big risk to put all their eggs in one basket, only takes SUVs to fall out of favour and what do they have to fall back on? 2011 110 USW

It's funny how times change. I remember the V8 diesel being introduced to much fanfare, which didn't seem that long ago until I read that article Shocked Darren

Begs the question............is New Defender also going to get the 6 pot MHEV Diesels? Would be a much more suitable engines and less stressed than the 4 cylinder jobs. 2022MY upgrade along with the PHEV? Now a 3.0ltr 6 pot diesel with the PHEV in one car would be brilliant - a competitor for the latest Merc Diesel PHEV or the new BMW X5 PHEV with >50 miles electric range............ Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

LR did say a 3.0 diesel would be available in the Defender, perhaps this is the engine they’ve been waiting for.

Ewe wouldn't want her lambs in there as well though. It would be a tight squeeze.
And its a good job it's the 110, not the 90, otherwise there would only be room for a lamb chop or two.

Has nobody noticed that you can't actually close the boot..... I can imagine the lovely smell of your 80K 110 with sheeps Censored imbedded in the carpet FOREVER.... Not sure the lease company will be too impressed when it comes back....
You couldn't have missed the target audience anymore if you'd actually tried... It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse...
