I've never been a great fan of my local town, Braintree, but was quite impressed today.
It was dead quiet except for people standing in queues on the pavements in dead silence outside every shop that was open (chemist, post office, etc) The queue outside Sainsburys was incredibly long. Not because of the number of people in, it but because social distancing in Braintree means you stand at least 4 metres away from the next person! Maybe they know something I don't....... |

They can be given the biggest sticks available, won’t change anything. Elf ‘n’ safety and Human Rights would prevent them ever being used.
I remember a scene in a episode of The Sweeney in which Regan and Carter are apprehending a couple of ‘wrong’uns’, but Carter is struggling to get control. It went something like this: Carter: “Guv, what do I do now?” Regan, battling with his criminal, exasperated: “KICK HIM”. Can’t see that happening now, on TV let alone in reality. Yes. I would imagine that is a real concern for many.

I had to drop my old man to hospital (detached retina)
In the space of 20 minutes i saw 5 jackass drivers 1) Imbecile undertakes by being in wrong directed lane, speeds and tailgates 2)Second asshole is doing 60? in a 30 zone, comes within feet of rear ending me, then when i'm at a red light and i stop he overtakes me, going on the wrong side of the road and through a red. 3)Immediately after passing that i had an idiot in a prius pull out and i have to emergency brake only for them to hit a red light. 4)5 minutes after that another jackass goes through another red, gets to the opposite side of the intersection, U turns and goes through a red light again to go to my left. 5)Than some moron on a moped doing 50 in a 30 zone and comes within feet of hitting me or oncoming traffic if the oncoming traffic hadn't broken. Screw cornoavirus being apocalyptic, its more like they've been given the 5 minute warning. Yeah I saw a load of suicidal drivers today. Also there was noticeably more traffic. I hope I'm wrong but I think many folks are feeling isolation fatigue and are going out regardless. WARNING.

many people are not following the rules at all, They have to be out window shopping in supermarkets for the sake of it. which really does wind shop staff up and putting others in danger.
I should have put some money in my saving for my own place but I don't want to risk me been infected or getting wrong by the police. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

The road into our village was busier today than it was before the don’t go out unless essential instructions. Also they must have removed the 30 mph signs to make urgent medical equipment.
They have picked up on the increase in road use on the daily govt briefing and I suspect there be more drastic restrictions on the way thanks to those who think rules are only there for others to obey. So I’ve learned of another 2 side effectS of the virus today - not only can you loose your sense of smell and taste but It seems that you can also loose your ability to read roadsigns and interpret traffic lights....... I live in a village just off of the Main A47 in Norfolk. The A47 to you Guys in the midlands looks like a side road, but to us in Norfolk it is a main trunk road
Our village road (which was the A47 in days gone by) is dead. There maybe a car now and then but nothing much. Had an artic aluminium bulker come through this afternoon and that made a hell of a noise, which woke me and most of the village up, but it is unusually quiet. I see the A47 up close when I walk my dog and there are cars, but it is predominantly trucks. The buses (well the ones I can see through the windows on) are empty - as they should be (the new Excel buses have posh tinted windows because the skin flints at First Bus didn’t have air con fitted to their new fleet ) It seems the peeps around my way are toeing the line. Swine and Small said something similar a few days ago and he lives a few miles up the road from me. |
