Sad to say this sort of thing happened in Colchester 25 years ago. So don't despair - some people are ars*h*les no matter what the circumstances...or maybe despair all the time (it works for me). Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

They tried to force their way into my local chippy just over a week ago when the supermarkets were going silly.
They got nothing but the cost of the mess probably outweighed the cost of the spuds they were after. Great work Sulisuli 👍 |

its not kicking off at all apart from in the dross reporting we have been dumbed down with over a number of years.....everything is a crisis or drama......... Supermarkets are NOT struggling to stock their shelves but the 'news' bigging up a story is what is actually causing issues |

My thoughts exactly. Some (most) on line newspapers are in my view acting irresponsibly through racking up the situation at every chance. Insert words like 'killer' in front of virus for example. Most of us understand the situation and are looking for facts not sensational headlines in these times. 2010 XS USW

As above, likewise the press are largely responsible for fuelling the panic buying in supermarkets due to their constant over reporting/dramatising of it thus causing panic in the first place imo.

Agree with all of the above. Sensational journalism written by a load of amateur writers whose peers are spinning in their graves.
At this point I would have liked to have pointed in the direction of the Daily Mail and Express and most Sunday Newspapers (my usual rags to dislike), but I am afraid, from what I have seen, I think the BBC and Sky have been just as bad. With rolling 24 hour news, and lets face it, only one story, the amount of true information to report is usually quite sparse until Boris comes on the telly at 5 so it seems they either give their own opinions (which aren't needed and are not required) or they just get overly excited and spin the nation into hysterics. What we need from these people are facts and that's all. |

How hard would it be to show trucks leaving the massive distribution centres and delivering to stores as well as send a reporter to view how much toilet roll we actually manufacture every day!!!

So in East Anglia we have a company called Goffs who deliver a large proportion of the heating oil to all of us peeps in the sticks with no Gas supply. The link above is a valid story trying to stop people panic buying heating oil. At least heating oil cannot be stockpiled - well not easily so sooner or latter the tanks will be full and that will be that. My tank is about a quarter full and I won't need any more for at least a couple of months or more. Lazy journalism. The photo associated with the story has the bloke they have interviewed kneeling next to a combine Yes 90 Dreamer. Spot on. The best way to pick people up is to show something which is positive and those ideas word work so well. This kind of thing is exactly the same thing that was done in the Second World War with Pathe news keeping morale up. |

The toilet roll thing is disasterous. There's a chap on here flogging a Porsche. Last week I nearly replied to his ad offering him a pack of nine rolls plus cash my way in exchange.
Sadly, I doubt he'd be interested now.... |
