Just on that question of service ( seeing as it's a Naka. thread !)
I bought my carrier 2nd hand, through the forum I think, about 2 years ago. Because of changes to the back door, I didn't fit it until a couple of weeks ago. At that stage I found that the actual 'carrier' bit, that the wheel bolts onto, had been bent. Not immediately obvious, but it was visible when you knew what to look for. How that was done is anyone's guess, as it's pretty hefty stainless plate - about 5mm. Someone must have tail-ended the car it was fitted to, or reversed into something at speed. Can only imagine what the door would have looked like.... I could get a wheel onto it, but it was harder than it should be to get the third wheel nut into place. So I got in touch with 4x4 Overlander and Nakatanenga in Germany. Though it was no fault of theirs, they sent me a replacement for just the cost of postage. Fair to say I was delighted with that as I was quite prepared to pay for the replacement. Maybe I just asked nicely! This isn't meant to challenge anyone's posts about other suppliers, or to say that whoever sold it to me knew it was bent. (should anyone look back to see who was selling naka carriers). It wasn't obvious, and just one of those things really - but just saying the customer service from Nakatanenga was much better than I'd expected. RR classic - fitted with 200Tdi 1984 RR classic - V8 with ZF auto box 1993 Discovery 300Tdi not to mention the minis and the Type 2 VW camper... |
