Morning all! Looking at (maybe) upgrading the standard lights on the Defender with the Bearmach LED kit... does anybody have any experience with these?
I’m swaying more towards the smoked kit ([url] https://bearmach.com/led-73mm-smoked-lamp-...-ba-9720bm but have no idea whether they’re legal and will have an impact come MOT time in May... They have a 15% discount code to use today bringing them down to just over £100 so seems a good time to get them bought if all is going to be well legally. |

I've heard (from more than one person) that Bearmach led light units are very prone to water ingress 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I've just had a look at their website and I'm amazed at how little detail there is about this sort of stuff. Perhaps you should direct your questions to them directly, as it might prompt them to provide it as a matter of course? Darren

Agreed - I felt a little silly posting on here as common sense would say either:
a) read the website description, b) if they weren’t illegal, surely a well known company like Bearmach wouldn’t sell them, Disappointed to hear about the water ingress issue.. maybe a few other people who have had them a while could comment *fingers crosser* |

Hi all, I’ve found something on the Nakatanenga website https://www.nakatanenga.de/en/lighting/sig...grey?c=467
According to this, it’s the Bearmach kit and they’re E marked. Nothing about IP rating... Hope we get more info Best regards Tom |

I have had both RDX and Wipac LED units which have filled with moisture. No make is immune! 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

I have the RDX Set for years and they are completely dry and also E marked. But the indicators have changed their color to nearly white, which the German TÜV didn’t like so much....
So I’m looking for a replacement Tom |

Euro 290.00 for the same kit! From a personal point of view, it's much easier to change a filament bulb, dry out the standard one if it gets water in, or get a replacement single lens/unit when the inevitable happens. |

My tail (multiple) LED light has had the cover smashed for over a year (damn those sneaky garage pillars) and still works even when wet. Wouldn't worry too much about ingress... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Yes no make is immune from water ingress. No cracks, damage or jet washing. Gone through loads although they do still work underwater.

I bought the Bearmach smoked kit about a 18 months ago.
So far I have had 2 mots. No issues and they are still bone dry despite living up north. Can totally recommend. They are surprisingly by Colourful when illuminated so can’t see any issues. The image below was originally taken to show the parking sensor position ( ok. A bit gay I know) but gives you the idea. Click image to enlarge |
