Alpine has a range of multimedia units which are single DIN chassis with a double DIN - sized screen. I chose one (iLX107) which has radio, camera connection, hands-free phone and wireless Apple Car Play. This gives me all that I want, including Apple Maps and Google Maps for navigation, and a touch screen for operation.
A benefit of this unit is that the screen only intrudes behind about 20mm so it can be mounted very high up and I was able to keep my extra equipment (Merit socket and RedArc electric brake controller) under the screen. Bottom left is an HDMI/USB socket in place of the cig. lighter and to the right of the screen is a switch for selecting between car and trailer rear cameras. I fitted the unit using custom-made brackets to fix it to the Raptor console, which I think gives a very nice finish to the installation. Click image to enlarge |
