All of your problems are typical for any late model puma Defender unfortunately.
I took mine in at 2 1/2 years old to get the things done I wanted, new side steps, windscreen frame painted and window blocks painted. The job done by the approved body shop was so good that I replaced the blocks a year later and now the frame is bubbling again. I had the chassis waxoyled when new and painted the rear crossmember myself when it was 18 months old. Don't pay for a new grill surround or to get it painted! Stainless steel grills are available, unpainted or black powder coated. Simply drill out the rivets and fasten the new grill in with stainless dome head hex screws. Then, if you're fussy, paint the screw heads with a touch-up pen, so they don't stand out. http://defenderupgrades.co.uk/product/land...el-grille/ Window catch corrosion can be fixed with these, bound to be better that trying to paint corroded ones, https://www.optimill-uk.com/sliding-window-catch-covers.html |

Blackson - despite it's name - seems to be a local French thing?, just like - despite it's name - Mike Sander in Germany (he's actually a German guy), and Dinitrol in the UK (well, that's Swedish ).
Doesn't answer your question but you may find more reviews in France. |

British vehicle? Use British products:
www.bilthamber.com I used their Dynax range on mine from new in 2014, use it all year round and it has very little rust. And as for Waxoyl. Hmm, just look at all the cars "protected" by it from the 1960s and 70s, still rust free and in daily use.... |

You need wayoyl in St Tropez I have done my in Dinotrol. The 1st time I went to the UK and had it done. Now I just rattle can it in August. Outside chassis one year inside chassis the next. I'm in northern France. Its very very muddy here. I wish I lived in St Tropez. I fell in love with my girlfriend there. She kissed me on the boat that goes across the bay that we took to see the summer fireworks there.

I would not advise to use Blackson for this, it traps moisture and the corrosion will continue underneath.
As other said, use Waxoyl or Dinitrol. I got mine professionally Waxoyl'ed in the UK 10 years ago and it's absolutely free of any corrosion. I do top up from time to time though. But be aware, its a pig of a job to do it yourself! “A Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique. -- 2009 2.4 Puma Defender 90 SW 1979 Land Rover Series 3 88" |

I've done a bit of research on Blackson and the feedback isn't very good, similar to what you said.
I'd like to do Waxoyl, I need to find someone who could do this for me down here. Rust shouldn't be a problem in St Tropez but I don't stay there all the time. I'm now in the Alps on ski holiday and it is snowing heavily, they do salt the roads so the chassis could do with some protection. Click image to enlarge |

I'm sure Waxoyl -France will be able to recommend somewhere in the south for you to get the Defender treated.

Thank you!
I'm on Wrangler MTR's so wish me luck as we're heading back South on Saturday morning. I haven't used the car since we arrived as the hotel is right on the ski slopes and there's a shuttle service to take you everywhere. It has been snowing heavily and unless the weather changes and they clear the streets I will have to drive down a steep hill. I walked it yesterday and under the snow there's sheet ice. I think I'll put the gearbox in low range 1st gear which will save me applying the brakes! |

Good luck heading down the mountain, I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you take it easy.

And difflock so you get engine braking on at least two tyres. Cheers

Got back home OK.
Didn't put any diff lock or low range, just put it in 1st gear and slowly got down the icy hill without any problems whatsoever, not even the slightest hint of a slide. The best 4X4Xfar! I'll start to look at the nearest Waxoyl retailer. |
