It just won't start...
Hi all!
I have a problem with my truck. I've had a look through the forum and tried allsorts of fixes but to no avail.
It's a 58 plate 2.4 puma. Ex utilities truck

Compmetely out of the blue, it wouldn't start. Just a clicking noise from the starter. Single click upon trying to fire.
Removed the starter and tried to turn it with jump leads and a battery on the work bench. It turned slowly and some smoke came out.
I replaced the starter with a new one from Bearmach, a Lucas unit, and thought my troubles were over.
It still won't start. Same single click from the starter upon turning the key.
Checked the relay under the drivers seat. Checked the fuse on the battery.
Any ideas? I should add, I didn't get any fobs with the truck, so I have no central locking or alarm as it stands. Tried wiggling the 10AS wires, took the plugs off, gave them a shot of WD40 but no luck. I'm out of ideas.

Try running a cable from the +ve of the battery straight to the spade terminal on the starter? (or probably easier to connect to the spade on the starter then dab it on the battery..)

that way it'll bypass any ignition wiring/relays etc (making sure the ignition is switched on first so it'll start)
