[Sold] Land Rover-The Early Years by Tony Hutchings
"Land Rover-The Early Years" By Tony Hutchings- 1982 Signed First Edition No113.

Comes in the original box which is numbered the same as the book- 113

As with most of these books the spine has come away from the pages, some pages are loose, some are still glued.

The book is otherwise in excellent condition and has been stored in its box.

I’m unsure what to market this at but let’s go with £400 inc post to start with, I’m sure you’ll let me know if I’m out!

Sold

I’m very open to offers on this, it’s very tricky to get the true market value of it as they don’t come up for sale to often.

I think if it was in mint condition then you may well achieve your price but in the normal realm of book dealing then condition is everything. Good luck with your sale though. Defender 90XS SW

The 1982 "perfect-bound" softback edition (1000 numbered and signed copies plus a very few un-numered review copies) is exceptionally scarce now, and even the 1986 hardback edition (2000 copies) usually fetches £200-£300. It is something of a buyer's market however, but I think your price is reasonable.

If you haven't done so, you might want to visit tonyhutchings.com where there is info on this book, and interestingly he asks also the you contact him if buying or selling a copy (contact details are on the webpage). The page is dated 2010, so may be out of date (I hadn't realised the TH was still with us, for some reason I thought he'd sadly passed away and would be delighted to be mistaken).

Thank you and yes it’s a shame about the spine condition, I understand they were never that great when new!
The price was a starting point really in line with forum rules but really it’s just ‘open to offers’ Thumbs Up

Thank you, I was kind of hoping it’s good points (signed/limited/boxed) would kind of offset the bad points to a collector!
Tony is alive as the two books of this kind currently listed on eBay are actually from his account! We have messaged each other and he wished me luck with the sale, unfortunately he said the person who used to re-bind the books for him has moved away and couldn’t recommend anybody else.
I’ve looked through that thread whilst doing research, thanks Thumbs Up

My signed copy has the usual loose pages problem. If I had never actually opened the box and read it, on numerous occasions all those years ago mine might be in mint condition Rolling Eyes

You might be on the wrong forum to sell this book to best effect.

Perhaps try the LRSOC forum?

Series One owners have loads of money to spare!

Slidey, I’m in the process of rebuilding a S1 109, so I’m very poor at the moment Whistle

James, there is no restoration thread, I might put up a few pictures when it’s complete but it may be a longish process.
