My ex utility 110 has no key fob and starts ok so presume there is no immobiliser
have a pathological dislike of immobilisers due mainly to Ducati ownership who can code the AS10 on my 90 to remove the immobiliser part, will a nanocom do it ? |

There is no immobiliser activated on a basic spec Td5 10AS. It is, however, required for the ECU to run the engine. If you remove the 10AS, the ECU and 10AS won't do their "handshake" and the engine won't run.
You can have the engine ECU modified to not look for the 10AS unit but as long as you have no water ingress near the 10AS module (that is likely to make the 10AS wet) then they're pretty reliable and aren't prone to failure (other than PCB corrosion due to the aforementioned water problem). There are plenty of 20+ year old Td5s out there running around with their original 10AS units (mine is 17 years old) For me it would be a case of, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! P. S. In the current climate of high levels of theft - I would probably go the opposite way and have the alarm and immobiliser function activated in the 10AS and buy a couple of fobs. 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |
