Nice looking.

Seems crazy that they've not been in service that long, and being cast already.

what's the age/mileage on it? and dare we ask what you paid?

Sure, it's a 2007 (first were 2006) and it's done 40,000 km ish.

I paid less than the cost of 2007 110 2.4tdci CSW Mr. Green New project and it's green: www.projectoverland.info

Bit of an update here.

Had dead batteries, so had to replace them (they wouldn't take a charge). She uses 4 x type 6TN's configured in 2 banks of 2 for 24v system.
Replacing the four was going to be near £700 Shocked
So she got 2 x type 625 Yuasa's (220ah & 1150 CCA) which set me back just over £300 Rolling Eyes

Fits them, and she starts beautifully. Hurrah. Faultcode shows up with ECU fault and red engine warning. Panic sets in. Bought it from auction - got some redress as it never said anything about the fault code or warnings.
Did some digging and it's because of the flat batteries, as soon as the key was turned off, there wasn't enough power for diagnostics to cycle down.
Fired her up today, all fault codes cleared. Thumbs Up
Phew.

Passed my medical yesterday and sent off my licence so I can take my C+E (don't need that, but without it I can only tow 750kg unbraked trailer - which is useless).

I like that, very purposeful and with some serious cranking Amps on those batteries. Shocked

What sort of figures would you be talking about for tyres for these cost wise I'm guessing £500 a corner or more? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Depends where you are and what tyres you get. Michy XZL are the preference for overland trucks as they are hard wearing in the tough rocky stuff.
Brand new from a tyre dealer probably £800 a corner. I've heard of them being 1200 euro some places. Size is 395/85/20 Mr. Green New project and it's green: www.projectoverland.info

Keep an eye on withams, they often still receive tyres from the MOD for sale, often nos and a much cheaper option if you can collect.

Quick update.
The truck left Devon and has gone to Motorcraft in sunny Doncaster to be fitted with it's bare habitation box. Once complete it will come back to Devon and I've hopefully secured a workshop where I can work on the interior.

In the meantime here's a couple of mock ups that Motorcraft sent me.

Looks a good mock up Thumbs Up

Oh take care when driving as if you clip mirrors with a truck or wall they have a habit of swinging in and smashing the door glass. It’s slowly coming back Rolling with laughter 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Great buy!
I had a KAT1 A1 6x6 and contracted for Scout Tours, doing support for events like the Pharaons Rally in the mid 90s and some truck trial. We had about 8 KAT, including DFAEG versions (regular cab). Later we founded Prolog and one of the first contracts was the Dakar for Schalber (?) BMW bikes with the two famous support Discovery, one of them is still in Gaydon.
The main advantage of having such a truck is that you will find LR spare parts so cheap Laughing I vaguely remember paying 18k German Marks for a replacement diff with drive through member.......
