Evening all,
My insurance is due for renewal and seeing the good press A-plan are getting on here I thought I would give them a call and get a quote for an agreed value policy (AVP). Unfortunately they have been back in touch to say that only vehicles kept in a garage and doing less than 5,000 miles per year qualify for AVP. As I would be doing roughly 10,000 miles per year and it would be kept on my driveway it wasn't open to me, though they did offer me a competitive standard insurance policy. There looks to be quite a few people on here with an AVP through A-plan so I'm interested as to the whether you met these conditions to get a policy. Adrian Flux seem a bit more relaxed regarding conditions for an AVP. Cheers |

I'm with A-Plan and have an agreed value in place. My car is on my driveway (with security posts) and my mileage is set to 8k. No issues with my policy and wasn't told there were any restrictions such as those you have mentioned. Might be worth another phone call or dropping Carlie a message through the site??

Yeah I'll give them a message and ask if they can clarify further, it may be the additional security measures you have in place which swung it...?
Regardless, very helpful to deal with but I think Adrian Flux may come out on top this time round. |

Yeah I called the number on the banner and the emailed quote came from the Thatcham office.
Carlie is taking a look into it for me now ๐ From what I can gather postcode also seems to hold some influence on whether you qualify, though I wouldn't have thought I was a high risk postcode, living in the sticks in Central Scotland. |

Post code is considered if it's on the drive so a bit more exposed than say if it was garaged or under a carport. I've handed it over to the quotes team manager to have a look at the risk and see if we can refer to insurers

Charlie, My insurance is up soon. Does keeping the vehicle secure behind a heavy-duty steel bollard impact the quote? Thanks Jeremy |

Generally not as it's additional security which is optional - more for your own peace of mind really... it's not usually recorded on insurance because in the off chance you forgot to put the bollard up and the worst happened you wouldn't want the insurers putting it as a security requirement.
That being said we list it on our quotation record so we know you've got some additional measures in place so the risk of theft is lower. Thanks Carlie Howden Insurance - Specialist Vehicle Call us on 01635 874646 for a quotation |

I am with A plan and have an agreed valuation. My defender is parked on the drive. It is loaded with security features though. While I have to say the cost of the policy is greater than a standard comprehensive I do have the knowledge that should the worst happen I am covered for its value.
A few things in the name of security I have fitted Removal steering wheel Data Tagged Smart water tagged Spare wheel lock hand Brake lock Tracker Starter circuit immobiliser Alarm Krypton Bonnet lock Bomb Proof Door hinge security Sky tag letter code on the roof Ultrasonic passive alarm security Keyed electronic Fuel cut off And a few secret things that I will not mention. It may also worth noting that in addition to the required recent photos showing condition Etc. I was also asked for a full written garge report stating the condition of all parts and electrics. This report cost ยฃ125.00, so you have to add that to the cost of the policy.
