That came on the wire, when I started my shift today, ( I make some of the car parts for Nissan) There has been talk about where I work, about a possible shut down too, they are waiting to see what Nissan decide. Its still up in the air at the moment there, They are trying to figure out how they are going to pay the work force. The same story will be for me too soon no doubt. Also we have had a few others now been sent home sadly, and one Team Leader had to do in self isolation, his mrs was sent home with possible symptoms. All getting heavy now, Me and my family are going to have a chat this weekend, about what happens if one of us gets it. ![]() Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

As members have suggested, make sure you check in regularly with someone who can monitor you. If all else fails, I suggest posting your rough location (perhaps a 10 mile radius) and forum members could PM you to offer help. After all, isn't that what we're all about? I'm stuck in Germany sadly but then I'm surrounded by elderly neighbours so might have to send my fit sons out to do the dirty work, then make them live in the caravan ![]() Also, keeping us informed of your recovery (!) would be doing us a great service, as many of us (including me) have only had very general 2nd hand reports and have no accurate idea what to expect. Feel better soon! I'm not religious but I'll get everybody else to pray for you ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

^^^^ Religion... that's something that makes me laugh at this time....
So they're stopping masses and suggesting not to go to church.... surely all seeing eye God will save his followers and stop them from getting infected? Just shows what a farce it is ![]() |

Well said indeed, I could not agree more. I have every hope and expectation that members of the forum will help each other through the coming months in all manner of ways, it's what we do. |

Martin,
Is it possible to set up a thread that is only viewable by forum members just for those who are isolated with the virus and those who have remote elderly / high risk relatives to post their location and if they have any urgent needs such as shopping, a regular check-in or just a chat. Any one who is fit and at low risk locally can then volunteer to deliver shopping aid them with issues etc. Just a thought. Richard 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |

British Heart Foundation had their minions out in our part of Guildford knocking on doors begging for direct debit details, I mean donations.
Unreal, at a time when people need to keep on top of finances and health a charity sends out people to see strangers and beg. No fan of charities, cash before common sense. End of rant.... |

Worse it’s a HEALTH charity - they should know better than to be doing any face to face contacts. For those who are over 70/ in the high risk group or disabled take any prescription for medication and photo id along to your local Sainsbury store between 0700 and 0800 tomorrow (Thursday 19th March) and you have a special access to the store before the general public get in. I don’t know if this applies to other supermarkets but it was broadcast this morning on the Today program on R4 as being for Sainsbury’s. I’m in the high risk group and have been self isolating for 2 weeks so far - tried to call the local Sainsbury this morning but continuously got cut off so ventured forth and asked in store how to prove you are in the special groups, what I said above was the answer from the help desk in store. One thing though it seems not many of their staff are aware of this special facility for tomorrow! when I lived in Africa a guy who worked for me's wife worked for Save the Children. She was paid 60K a year plus a housing allowance of 20K all tax free. I used to rib him that was 80,000 old ladies in the UK putting a pound in the collection tin every year before a penny went to save any starving children......... |

Just heard on R4 You and Yours that the big 6 supermarkets are all hoping to have priority delivery slots for online and click and collect for elderly, high risk and disabled folks. No mention of those self isolating though.
During my shop this morning I was “attacked” by a lady who saw I was wearing light cotton gloves over latex gloves and was accused of over-reacting - she went bright red when I told her I was risking it just going outside let alone touching dirty shopping trolleys as I have T2 Diabetes so have reduced immunity to any bugs, she couldn’t have been more apologetic. One thing I was told by my GP’s practice yesterday was if you can pay by contactless transaction you should - paper notes and coins are easily contaminated so to avoid cash payments if at all possible. Has anyone else been having problems getting mobile phone connection on O2 for the last 24 hours? Are the networks becoming overloaded with more people working from home? I live out in the sticks and was surprised that even local calls on mobiles are not getting connected after even 3-4 attempts Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. The O2 problem Tim is an inter connectivity issue with other service providers. I think i read it on the Guardian Website

Thanks for all the messages guys, I'm still here and kicking (just about) got a sticky cough now, still got a nasty headache and feel a bit "weak", but it does look like you get an initial massive hit which then wears off quite quickly.
Although yes its rubbish doing this alone, at least I'm not going to pass it on. Frustratingly I'll lose overtime/standby at work and finances are already under pressure. Got my mum and some friends making regular check-ins so at least I'm being monitored. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |
