2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey

CD Thump!!!!

Went to a wedding reception with wifey last night and she asked to put a cd on. This is the first time I'd used the cd player since having the truck. Anyway got to track 2 and it stopped playing, so I thought I'd take it out and put it back in. Pressed the eject button numourous times and noting happened so I gave it a thump and out pops the cd much to the ammusement of wifey as she found it extremely funny!

Then to top it off I'd recently tried the head lamp leveling switch. The lights had dipped down to position 3 and would not come up again so wifey had to drive me home without being able to see much!

Our cd player was temperamental too and the dealer upgraded it to one of mp3 player units. Regarding the lights. Our Puma had a bad habit of headlights coming on pointing to the ground at the lowest setting. After about 20 minutes they would rise up to normal height of their own accord. This was irrespective of the headlight levelling switch.The levelling unit was changed and we had normal lights. Get your dealer to change your cd player and the light levelling unit. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Cheers Spudfan, Had disc in and out several times today and no problems. Checked the fuse for the headlight leveling and all ok so as you suggest I recon it will be control unit.
Bloody list is getting longer and longer!

Had identical problem, never used CD player for first 18 months. On first use same issue. Got one of those aerosol air dusters and gave it a few blasts in the CD slot. Never had a repeat problem after that.
