Not sure if this will help much, but the O rings in diving kit (torches, computer batteries, inflator valves etc) is usually given a smear of silicon grease to help keep the water out. I assume watches would work on the same principle.
The only time I'm aware of any non-standard silicone grease being used is if the kit concerned is in Oxygen service, i.e. exposed to high concentrations of O2 - then an alternative is used. Can't see this being an issue with a watch.
