Have you considered a piggy back loom from the rear. Plug and play and no cutting if the factory loom. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Connection on the gearbox for the reverse light is the closest place to the seat box. Hold my beer and watch this!

Hello,
Thanks for the answers, and thanks Martin for the offer, where would the y-cable be connected? I also thought of the reverse light switch at the gear stick, how much do I have to take apart to get to the switch? Or can I access it from beneath the car? Thanks again, Johan |

I went down the piggy back loom route when I needed a reverse light feed. It's quite easy to do: make up a short loom with male and female econoseal plugs and an extra loose wire from one of the positive terminals like this:
Click image to enlarge That loom then plugs in between the end of the main loom and the reverse light under the rear wing. The loose wire (yellow in my case) can be extended to wherever you need it, although going forward to the seat box area is mildly involved, I suppose. Is there not a reverse feed on the driver side bulkhead (engine bay side) in the multiplug for the chassis loom? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Thanks for the answer, I thought of just using a Scothlock and then making it water tight.
But as you say its a bit of a job to pull the cable to the seat box, so I think I will try to find/access the switch at the gearbox. Any advice where to find it? Thanks again & have a good week |

Do you know if the wire has the same color at that particular connector as at the bulb? At least there its grey. |

It's white at the light, not grey (grey is the fog light).
The output from the switch is supposed to be Orange with a Grey stripe, but I have seen other colours used on Puma looms. This changes to Green with a Brown stripe at the 14 pin engine connector (towards the back of the top of the left side of engine looking from the driver's seat). The Green/Brown changes to White at the 14 pin round grey connector on the bulkhead, this is on the engine bay side on the top of the right footwell (again, looking from driver's seat). However it is available in the cabin as there is a branch up to the instrument pack, again it is Green/Brown. It goes to pin 26 of the instrument pack connector. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Martin
One of the jobs on my 110 was to fit an extra reversing light on the other side and a double fog so it balanced out.. However 4 years on I havn't done this, how much are your piggy back leads? one for each side? Thanks Scott |

Thanks, this was very informative! Just to make sure there is no misunderstanding; Is the reverse light on a right hand drive car on the right side? Viewed from the rear. I thought of this while the cable seems very grey in colour, I tried even cleaning it with brake cleaner. If the light is on the left side, then I suppose I need to trace the fog light instead (I suppose LR has used the same cable loom at the rear independently of left or right steering. |

On a RHD vehicle the reversing light is on the nearside and fog on the offside. It is a legal requirement for a single rear fog light to on or to the offside of the vehicle's centreline.
