That’s parked in front of the Table Bay Hotel on the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town.
Had a couple of great holidays there. As Sulisuli says, great looking motor. A Guy up the road from me has a 90 version which I believe had an auto box and ‘slight’ remap carried out after purchase. It’s the only one I see around my area being driven regularly. Might be dozens holed up in garages? Enjoy |

It is indeed! Does anyone know how many Heritage Defenders were made, was it 400 or way more? Thanks...

Not conclusive proof, but Top Gear Magazine mentions 400. |

Thanks...I’d assumed the same because of the 1/400 book...most of them seem to be in and around Cape Town!!

Nice to see you are enjoying your Heritage Truck, Huttopia
Alex, if that's not a reason to have another holiday in Cape Town, I don't know what is. Now off to have a word with my wife |

I'm shocked that your original blocks look intact...I thought you'd have replaced them with Huttopia specials by now!!! Since 1973...S1, Air Portable's, Defender's, but only my Wolf TUL HS GS remains |

Good point fatcog! However for some bizarre reason they seem to be ok, which is more than can be said for some other areas of paint work- I think it was sprayed from 10ft away after 6 pints, absolute rubbish!

Total production number of the final Heritage edition 110 and 90 combined was 2654. We here in little Switzerland alone got a quota of 300. We got them all, even possibly a few more, see explanation below.
To complete the numbers for the three final Celebration editions here are the others. Total production number of Adventure edition was 2277, Switzerland got a quota of 100. Total number of Autobiography was 180, we got an astonishing quota of 50 of those. Now, the Autobiography editions was virtually unsellable here, nobody liked them. In all of Geneva where expensive cars are just normal, only a single Autobiography was sold..... to a Middle-East origin buyer. Never have seen an Autobiography on the road here in this country, Heritage and Adventure editions are a regular sight. I actually have heard that our importer quickly realised that they made a big mistake with that too large Autobiography quota, and were able to reduce it, same time getting some more Heritage and Autobiography editions on top of the mentioned initial quota’s. Especially the 300+ Heritages sold like candy here. Same time there are still 3 or 4 new Autobiography editions unsold here not finding interest. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

It’s going to be used in SA for the foreseeable future, but maybe eventually imported to UK.
Like most of the Heritage Defenders I’ve seen here, it will be used, but looked after... Thanks for all the information... |
