Rattles and clunks from the rear forward facing seats
Getting too used to rattles and clunks in the cabin. Having got use to the 2.4tdci defender 90 experience, the other day I managed to deploy a forward facing rear seat whilst off-roading with the help of a large rock. Whilst investigating why the mechanism had failed to lock the rear seat in the stowed postion, i removed the mouldings at either end of the seat hinges to find the 22mm stiff nuts loose at both ends. Re tightening these nuts has made a world of difference to driving on and off road, it's now much quieter in the cabin now. This sort of noise had crept up on me or i just took it fot granted that the rear seat just rattle around all day. Worth a check because the locks are made from very bendy steel and need all the help they can get to keep the seats locked upright. County station wagon

The plastic/vinyl covers held with two plastic clips where the seat assembly mounts to the vehicle, the rear cover has the release lever incorporated, the front cover just covers the pivot attachment.
